Tabi Joda is a visionary with a passion for sustainability and a deep-seated love for our planet. He has an unwavering commitment to restoring the natural balance of our environment and believes that human effort, dedication, commitment, and belief in our abilities can solve some of the worst problems facing our planet today.
Joda's mission is simple yet powerful: to plant one billion trees. Through this initiative, he aims to not only revitalise our environment but also uplift the lives of rural communities. His dream is to create a world that is more verdant, resilient, and sustainable, where humanity and nature can coexist in perfect harmony.
Joda's unwavering spirit and commitment to sustainability have inspired countless people, including women and youth, to join him in his quest to replenish lost biodiversity and restore forests. With every tree he plants, Joda is rekindling hope and reminding us that we all have a role to play in shaping a better future for generations to come.
Joda's passion for sustainability has a touching origin story. He has always had a penchant for nurturing flora and fauna "Each time I was going to my school I used to collect a lot of leaves and flowers around and then I planted them in the school compound," Joda recalls. When he was just a young child of five or six years old, his father took him out to plant trees. He fought through poor weather conditions to plant saplings despite his father suggesting they should leave it. After watching those saplings grow into the most verdant trees, the experience had a profound impact on him. He realised that life cannot be sustained without trees, and this realisation left an indelible mark on him.
As he grew older, Joda became more aware of the environmental degradation that was happening around him and how it was impacting people's lives. He saw firsthand how the loss of natural ecosystems was creating vulnerabilities and affecting some of the most vulnerable members of society, such as women and young children. In his words, “I think we just need to discuss the fact that we have a critical mass of people whose livelihoods depend on the actions that we need to take right now. They are currently vulnerable to conflict, migration, to poverty, unemployment, and even to death.”
In a recent interview with GUD Malta, Tabi Joda's passion for sustainability and environmental restoration shone through. He spoke at length about his experiences working with rural communities to plant trees and restore lost biodiversity. "They cannot only smile on their faces, they can smile from their Hearts and then can ultimately have hope, and dignity," Joda remarked. For Joda, it's not just about the environment; it's also about creating economic opportunities for these communities. He believes that sustainable development can only be achieved if the environment is taken care of, and the benefits of doing so can be seen in the form of job creation, increased agricultural productivity, and a better quality of life for people in rural areas.
"So for me, I see the future where we convert the mindsets of people in the talking rooms. People in the working rooms are working through action, in tap playing and bringing the real impact that is needed to drive the change that we all want," says Joda. He has been able to create a movement that brings people together around a common goal. His passion for sustainability and his unwavering spirit have inspired countless people, including women and youth, to join him in his quest to replenish lost biodiversity and restore forests. Joda believes that the fight against climate change is a collective effort, and everyone has a role to play in achieving a more sustainable future. Moreover, Joda highlighted the global impact of environmental degradation, emphasising that it affects everyone, regardless of where they live. He believes that Africa has a crucial role to play in the fight against climate change and that planting trees in Africa can have a positive impact on the entire world. Through his work, Joda has become a catalyst for change in many communities, inspiring people to take action and make a difference.
Joda's message is clear: we all have a responsibility to care for the environment and create a sustainable future. "I have put humanity at the forefront of everything that I do. Yes, humanity, I actually feel with integrity. We can provide the best solutions or the best solutions to go to the people in the most appropriate or in the most successful way. And also consistent consistency, tenacity, belief, trust, you know, conversations with people leaving in the people that you work with that this is not for the few, for the many, but it's for all.”
