The Shea Butter Tree is a deciduous tree native to Africa that typically grows to between 5 and 15 meters in height and has a trunk diameter of up to 50 centimeters. Its leaves are lanceolate, up to 12 cm long and 5 cm wide, with a pale green upper surface and grayish-white lower surface. The tree produces small, yellow-white edible fruits, which contain a high concentration of lipids and fatty acids used in the production of Shea Butter. Its bark is gray and rough, and its flowers are white and fragrant. It is an important source of food, medicine, and oil for many African communities.

 

What is included: 

Each sapling will be geolocated and can be photographed with a bespoke message in view of the sapling when planted. It could take a few weeks to several months before the tree is ready to be planted but gifters and giftees will be kept up to date on the progress.
